English Competency Requirements

For those students whose native language is not English and who did not graduate from a Canadian university, there are English competency requirements that must be fulfilled upon applying to the M.Sc. programs.

Applicants must provide proof of proficiency in English by meeting the following two requirements:

  • Provide scores from one of the following tests: TOEFL (minimum acceptable score for admission is 600 paper version, 250 computer version, 100 internet version); IELTS (minimum acceptable score for admission is 7). All applicable test scores must be sent from TOEFL or IELTS directly to The School of Audiology and Speech Sciences.
  • Provide a five to ten-minute recording of your speech (cassette or CD). This speech sample may be on any topic, as long as it is neither read nor recited. A telephone interview may follow.  The recording should be sent by you to The School of Audiology and Speech Sciences.
