<p>The School is proud to announce that Instructor and Clinical Coordinator Lisa Avery was presented with the BCASLPA Recognition of Service Award at the recent 2011 conference.</p>
<p>The award is presented to a BCASLPA member whose special efforts and contributions, through volunteer service to BCASLPA and related organizations, have contributed to the growth of the professions of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.</p>
<p>Lisa was presented the award for her longstanding work with the Vancouver Fluency Interest Group and the BC Association of People who Stutter, countless hours mentoring students and clinicians in the area of fluency, and her passion in this field.</p>
<p>We are proud to have Lisa on our team at the UBC School of Audiology &amp; Speech Sciences.</p>

<p>Professor David Stapells was presented with the Canadian Academy of Audiology’s Paul Kuttner Pioneer Award at their recent national conference.</p>
<p>This award is presented to a pioneer in Audiology in Canada, who has &#8220;boldly gone where no one has gone before&#8221; and been the &#8220;first&#8221; to embark on a new program or procedure which has impacted audiology service delivery in Canada. His work on the identification of infant hearing loss and auditory evoked potentials is widely recognized and used across North America.</p>
